New Tires! Cheap!

I like my Schwalbe tires. I don't like the price. But I ride for FUN, so I'll pay a little extra to get what I want. A while back someone was telling me about a retailer in Germany that offers spectacular deals, so I thought I'd give them a try.

I run a Nobby Nic and a Hans Dampf. The sticker price at the LBS is about $80+tax, but they knock off about $10. They're about the same from Amazon, but it's hard to tell exactly what version of the tire you're getting. From Bike-Discount.com, I got the 2015 model of both tires for $102, including delivery. I ordered ten days ago, and they showed up on my doorstep this afternoon.

So I saved about $25 per tire -- fifty bucks! That'll buy me a few bottles of high-end beer.

I recommend one each of Chimay red and blue labels.

But I also recommend that you still patronize the LBS more than the internet if you want the LBS to still be there for the convenience. So far I have purchased exactly nothing over the internet except race/ride registrations...can't buy those in a brick & mortar store anyway.

I hate to admit cause I really feel strongly about supporting your LBS t but I just picked up a new set of schwables off flea bay. Paid about the same and free shipping & no tax and can enjoy lots of cold ones because of it.

You could also save a lot of beer money by not buying Schwalbes, since they wear out so damn quickly...

I "reckon" (hick talk) I have not really found a tire I like better than Schwalbe's :( I get the TOL (Top of the Lines) for $52 bucks.

As much as I try to support the local bike shop, I too know of the need to buy cheap parts so I can still drink good beer.

That web site does have some amazing prices. $132 for a set: front AND rear XT brakes !!?? wow thats a deal.

In my experience if you by bikes local, support your local bike shop by bringing in new customers you will receive discounts on bikes and parts well below online prices. Word of month is the best marketing that money can't buy and shops know this. I buy high end parts at mid level prices due to my years of supporting my bike shop.
