New Rider in Burbank

goose

Newbie with Hope!
Hey everyone.
New to this forum, i just got back from working 9 months in BC Canada where i bought my first mtb since 96 and have been avidly riding whistler and coast gravity park up there.
Now i'm back home in LA and looking for people to ride with. I'll ride pretty much anything although i'm still trying to get in shape (15y of smoking, just quit, fingers crossed) but with my bmx background i do love anything with jumps and speed.
Since i got back i've been riding EL P by JPL, gspot, hummingbird and some other Simi trails, and back in the day i used to dirt jump the Kenter whoops.

I'm currently in between projects so i can ride during the week. i have a 4 bike North shore rack, so if we get a couple of peeps together we can take turns shuttling, and i don't mind digging/chainsawing/ doing trail repair.
I ride a transition suppressor as all mountain, and have a deity DJer and just got myself a tr500 dh rig that i have yet to take for a serious shred session.
i'm in Burbank but don't mind traveling as long as it's somewhat outside of rush hours.

Hit me up
I'll probably be out in Fontana this weekend, mostly so i'm not riding somewhere by myself again, but might race the newbie class DH for shits and giggles.

take care

Gustaf

A hearty welcome to a fellow mtb'er!
You DID hit the right place for friendly folk who ride your area.

Totally sucks you were forced to ride Whistler on a regular basis....:cautious:(total jealousy) Gee, how did you put up with that!

Good people here... Ride often... post lots!

Hey Goose, welcome! Im confident you've found the right place to meet people and ride with here at IMTBTrails! If you're in Burbank, you've got the Verdugos closest by that do have some cool single track options. The OTBs ride there weekdays at night on Tues and Thursday. Check out the ride calendar at OTBMBC.com. Hope to see you out there on the trails!

Summer is just around the corner and as you climb up any of the fire roads in the Verdugos, the smog will make it seem like you never gave up smoking.
Welcome from Sylmar. Look for @Cisco Roots and myself, because like he said we ride the Verdugos at night with OTB. The best ride IMHO is riding El P at night, it's a totally different animal then.

Gooooose-taf...

Welcome. Most of us do not intentionally leave the ground while on our bikes, but there are a few bike-parkers, jumpers on here (Rox, Doublewide). If you go to Fontana, check out the pro-expert course. The beginner/sport DH is usually quite tame. But, that smoker's lung will hurt like hell if you race - and try to sprint the section called the wall. Fontana races and training will happen no matter the weather, so you should be fine.

I think you will find some great riding up there, albeit very different from BC. You will need to venture down Laguna way and try some of our tasty treats too.
