So after months of looking and debating I finally pulled the trigger on my new bike. Giant XTC 27.5 plus single speed. Did a few parts swap before taking possession, race face next sl cranks, absolute black oval ring, my year old xt m8000 brakes and my bars. I also bought a new set of stans crest 29ers with ikon front and rear for my long day light race set up. The day is going by to fast so tomorrow morning might be the maiden voyage. Excited to try out the plus tires and a dropper post.

So plus tires going up hill are hard. I geared this bike the same as my 29er thinking the slightly smaller wheel diameter might offset the weight, it didn't.

Plus tires going downhill are so much fun. Not sure it was a PR on lizard but it was smooth and in control the whole time. I need to get the 29er wheel set on so I can compare apples to apples. So far this bike descends so much better with the slacker front, shorter chain stay and more travel.

Very happy with my purchase!

Ssr. Congrats on a real jewel. I can't stop starring at it. I am inspired to change my mind pull my h-o-o-m-a and keep my older hardtail and show it some love. Thank you. Again starring at it I can't help wonder how the seat post holds on. I went to giant & Google nothing! Splain Ricky.

And the part that I didn't tell you yesterday... :whistling: I found that the 1/2 fat combo was the best of both worlds. Plus tire on the front and a normal width tire on the back yields all of the downhill fun, and nowhere near the penalty going uphill. I managed a few rides over 7000 feet with that setup. I'm sure I'll try a version of that when I finally get the Chameleon.

Maybe a 3.0 up front, and a 2.6 in the rear? I'm looking forward to experimenting!

Congrats. Very purty new bike. :geek:

But I have to say, spend all that money for a bike and they don't even give you a cassette, shifter or derailleur? You got ripped off!
In the fashizzle talk department @herzalot simply stole all my lines. To add, however, you are not allowed to have a nicer bike than me. So give it up. ha hah!

@singlespeedrider ...seriously. Sweet bike Brothah, very sweet bike. You single speed animal!

1.I don't think that is a dropper
2. I believe from the pic the black seat tube you see rising out of the frame is actually the frame.

Just my speculative guess.
