This is a classic 20 mile figure eight loop we used to do back in the day. Friday (or any other weekday) is best for this ride as the foot traffic on SOT on weekends takes all the fun out of it.
Anyhow; starts at Bouquet Canyon Rd and Leona Divide (fire road). There is plenty of parking at the start.
Basic ride: Begin with a 5 mile climb up the fire road then jump on the trail for a fast twisty bermy narrow 7 mile ST descent. Then climb up SOT to Sierra Pelona ridge to hit 5-Deer trailhead. from the bottom of 5-Deer take martingdale rd (ST and doubletrack) back to SOT then back to ride start.
There are plenty of options to make this ride shorter/longer/easier/harder. route will depend on who shows up.
