Let’s play guess the new bike lead time!

Where's my bike already?! I ordered it a week ago!

Santa Cruz is very similar to Santa Claus. Coincidence? I don't think so...

...It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Hey at least it's a bike. I'm waiting to build my house. 6 months in and we haven't even broken ground yet.

Whoever picked 8/26 is the winner. As of right now it’s torqued up, and tomorrow (and all weekend) we’ll see about dialing it in.

First impressions/parking lot test: it’s exactly what I was expecting: it’s basically my Process, except every single thing is upgraded 3 notches, and shiny.

Uhh seriously... Party Foul!.... No Pic?

OK, here’s one.

Initial trail impressions: Rode with it as close to “factory settings” as I could get. Pedals awesome. I went up 20mm in travel but it climbs like I went down 20mm. I appreciate how silent everything is, besides the hub. On the downhill, all that “black aluminum” adds up to a very straight track.

It’s very much a “dad bike,” which is cool with this dad. Very middle of the road trail bike, nothing extremely one way or the other.

I’ll see if adding a click of rebound and removing a click of compression helps me get more out of the suspension, and I think I can get away with a bit lower tire pressure.

But the biggest revelation was how awesome the 200mm dropper is compared to my old 120mm.

Congrats! It’s a beautiful bike, and it sounds like you’re off to a good start. I forgot to mention in my first impressions post how awesome going from a 160 dropper to a 210 is, so I feel ya. Enjoy!

I thought I’d follow up. Yesterday was the second real ride, Hit Lizards & Old Emerald. Wanted to keep going but the heat was not cooperating. I was definitely pushing too hard on the climbs. I should have backed off, but it’s just so fun to ride something that wants to get up and go.

I wanted a zero-excuses bike, and I got it. From here on out, all flaws in the ride are unequivocally due to the rider…

Reducing the compression damping was the ticket. Not quite a magic carpet ride, but close, and so much control.

The Float X2’s climb switch is probably the first one I’ve ever used that doesn’t suck. It just dials in the perfect amount of compression for climbing fire road. Usually these switches seem to have 10-20 mm of play in them before the damping ramps up, so you get a displeasing pogo stick effect, without any noticeable help climbing.

This bike needs the climb switch less than anything else I’ve owned, but since it actually works I think I might use it.

Worth the wait I’m sure, congrats on the upgrade. Enjoy your regular doses of CBF.

No dad bikes, only dad rides. :geek:
