As I got up at 5:30 this fine Sunday morning I happened to go to the Forum Home page and at the bottom it indicated a new member who's name is kioti!

Now I have actually never physically met kioti but his reputation proceeds him. I have conversed many times with him on STR as well as several phone calls. Those calls were in reference to trail building and maintenance. Jim is one of the FEW Forestry registered trail maintenance dudes out there. For those of you down South Jim has put a lot of time in repairing and upgrading singletrack.

Welcome to imtbtrails Jim!

Jim's berms are fo' real! The man puts in more hours improving LEGAL trails for us to enjoy than any other human in Orange County. He has the certification and proper authorization to work on two of the busiest "wilderness" parks - Whiting and Aliso, not to mention being Godfather of The Luge. He has turned boring, outsloped hiking trails into flowy, fun and safer mtb trails without angering hikers, runners or equestrians - and that's not easy to do. Before working with Jim, I wondered how "they" found the dirt to build berms and how "they" got it to stay so solid. Then I worked with Kioti on The Luge and watched Jim install berms by digging rather than by moving a lot of dirt. Within 20 minutes, we had a sustainable, well-shaped usable berm with grade reversal and drainage. Those berms have lasted for years.

Welcome to IMTBtrails Jim, see you soon!
