Interesting in LCWP

Interesting someone went through and marked nearly every ST downhill segment in LCWP Strava hazardous. This happened recently.

I Know Strava brings strong opinions, it's not for everyone, but some if us enjoy it. I think I / many of us use it "responsibly",and yes there are Stravaholes.... But hey there are AHs in every nitch

Just a bummer, and yes for each segment you can accept the waiver etc. But does not show up on mobile now .etc

Pretty sure the person doing doesn't really understand that it won't change the way we ride.

Looks like they may be working their way through Aliso as well. In fact I would swear the person was doing it while I was writing this thought I checked 5-O at first and it was OK but just checked the segment I use is now hazardous.

1st world MTBer problems.

I was just going to post about this, too. They're not just hitting the DH or Singletrack ... they flagged the Willow climb and some of the Canyon Acres climbs as hazardous! Seriously, they are flagging fire road climbs! I've also noticed that they've flagged some or all of the segments on 5 Oaks, Stairsteps, Rock-it, and Meadows over in Aliso.

I know this happened before back in the day and there was a Strava ambassador on the other site that worked with Strava to figure out who was doing it and get them banned from Strava (or something like that .. don't remember exactly). Is there anyone on here with those kind of connections?

I don't use STRAVA, but this seems like cyber-vandalism to me. Intentionally causing roadblocks and inconvenience to make some sort of anti-mtb statement. Or maybe it's just anti-STRAVA, but either way, it seems motivated by the same thing as slashing tires. Any anti-MTB is a bad thing.

On a related note, Rock-It was fairly busy yesterday and I had my bell jingling as I descended. I saw a few riders who were climbing and I passed them at a safe and sane pace, wishing them a good morning. Bumping on down the rock garden and two older hikers with hiking poles were scrambling to get out of the way. I said "you're good - all good. You're fine right there. Good morning. One more behind me..." Got to the snaky little turns after the short climb, and more hikers tucked out of view. Slowed way down, exchanged pleasantries and continued.

So we got to the bottom and a fast guy on a Speshy Enduro (with Ohlins suspension) pulls to a stop. I say "wow, busy out there." He says "Anyone who's climbing Rock-It on a Sunday should be shot. And hikers should just f-ing die..." This d-bag was about 48-50 years old, so not some adrenaline fueled youngster. I hope he has never shared his disdain directly with hikers or other cyclists.

People suck...

That's the same guy that snakes me for a parking spot at a crowded lunch stop, tosses his cigarette out the car window on the 73, Passes on the right in a frwy exit lane to make it 1 car ahead in stop and go traffic in San Clemente, Illegally stops his car and blocks neighbor hood traffic to stop and get his mail instead of parking at home and walking 20 yards to the mail boxes, Eats all the samples at costco and leaves his trash in the cart, Sets up all his bullshit in front of me at the beach, Lets his kids run around the community pools cursing at adults, yeah i have seen that guy before. he's a real *******.

Was he wearing Gflex elbow pads?

While I don't see the reason for outright hatred towards hikers or climbers... climbing rockit after 8am is a really stupid idea. Likewise, I would never hike rockit even though it's totally legal to do so. It's one of those trails I feel like should just end up directional and bike only.

Just saw this post. I was wondering what happened and did some research to find a resolution. It doesn't look like there is one, but I sent Strava a very polite email about this issue. I ride LCWP more than anywhere else and the hikers and other riders tend to be a lot more friendly than out in Aliso. Very interesting indeed.

I don't STRAVA either, but I think once a trail is labeled as hazardous, you have to "sign a waiver" by clicking OK, and I don't think you get the comparative stats like PRs, KOMs, Fly Bys or any of the other tricks and features of the app. I could be entirely wrong, but that's what I gleaned from a friend's description.

I use Strava, but have no idea what a "hazardous trail" is. Bueller???? Some one edumicate me's.

When a segment is marked "hazardous" it means that KOM's and leaderboards are no longer accumulated. You will still be able to sort through your own results, but you are unable to compare yourself vs. everyone else.

Strava believes that if there is no leaderboard or KOM's....riders will ride safer......yeah, right.

I don't see my own results anymore on any of these segments. I'm nowhere near the leader boards but like to see my own progress and have a record of where I ride. When I'm stuck at home with a newborn, I like to live vicariously thru myself :p
Give a link to a segment and let's look also do you use the mobile or the desktop app
