IMTB Trails Strava Club

With Mikie's blessings, I've created a IMTB Trails "Club" on Strava. Join up! ... you'll be able to keep track of other member's rides, club stats such as most miles and elevation per week, etc. There are some other functions such as Group Events and Discussions.

One suggestion is to add your forum screen name to your "profile bio" (under "settings") so forum people know who your are on Strava.

 COOLIO!
I know this will not be for everybody, but anything that promotes us as a group and more interaction with each other is awesome.
I use STRAVA for the stats and personal records.
Enjoy this if you are into it.
Mikie

I've never used it for anything other than looking at my own times... I think it filtered out my runs. Will it filter out any miles I do on the road bike?

Only my opinion, but miles of cycling are miles of cycling. You can designate which is which in STRAVA by setting up two profiles one for your Road Bike and one for your Mountain Bike, but I think it still combines all the miles together...

What Mikie said. It counts all your cycling (might even count running) in the club totals.

Last time I looked we already had 18 people join the strava club.

AAAAAAACCCCCKKKKKKKKK

Noooooooooooo !!! Don't do it.

OK, I can see that I am probably the only one who avoids the rabbit hole of STRAVA. As much fun as I have being in the gang, I am still staying out of this one. I will use my post count and witty contributions as my measure of success as a mountain biker. that way I don't actually have to ride, and I don't have to suffer the embarrassment of comparative worth measured in numbers of rides, miles, elevation gain or speed.

Go forth and prove! :wtf:

I checked this thread just to see your reaction... I knew it would be a good one! :-)

In as well. I'm a bit of a data junkie so I like to keep track of mileage and rides. It's interesting to me to go back after a ride and see how I did compared to other rides. Sometimes I feel like I was fast, but the times don't show it and sometimes I feel like I was slow and actually did pretty well. That said, I still ride for fun more than I ride for exercise, so I don't ever worry about a strava time while I'm out on the bike.

I do this for both of my mtn bikes....that way I can go in and filter out to see what my SS mileage is vs. my geared mileage. Also good for tracking when certain parts need replacing.

Good idea, but including road miles kinda sucks. Its a MTB website "A Southern California Mountain Bike Forum, Magazine, and Product Reviews website for Mountain Biking. ".
.
I have a feeling the top spot will always be a roadie.....any way to separate that out?

Unfortunately it is the #1 issue with Strava. Road vs. Mtn

I usually out climb the roadies in the clubs that I am a member of....but even on my biggest mtn weeks, the roadies are still farther ahead when it comes to mileage.

I'm with Herz on this - I'll keep torturing myself with my Garmin uploads (and Geoladders occasionally) just to give me a rough estimate of "what did I ride today?" "Did I burn off that cookie I had after lunch?"
For me, it's the Strava-Holes that have tainted what started out to be a good training app. Kind of like me and Facebook -

Now, that being said, I will probably lurk on Strava to see where the iMTB peeps are riding just to get more riding ideas.
So stop reading my post and get out and post up some Strava stuff!

I say we all just join. We all do this for different reasons. I don't care if I'm the mileage king or not. It may be inspiration for others to get out more, you never know what it will promote. Like Scottay stated it would be nice to separate Roadie/MTB miles but hey, whatever. I'll take it for what I can receive out of it. It's really just another way to community in what we love to do.

I'm not stressin'! I don't give a fak where I am on the list. Cause, I know damn well I wont be at the top. Got nothing to prove and strava is used only as a log.
