Huh....

Pedal Assist = 750Watts... 750Watts... why not ... 1,21 GigaWatts!!!...750Watts...

To put it perspective most of us when working hard are putting out 200+ watts J and Crew and top IMTB Climbers maybe 300+ watts sustained... Top TDF Pro on long climb 425+ Watts... Cavendish , Kittel Fastest men in the world 1500 watts for 5-30 secs... 750 watts....Cricky!

I guess I just didn't realized is was that much.

1.21 gigawatts, what was I thinking?
Great Scott!

Well TLD did start out as a moto company.
And Aliso and Woods park used to be open to motos, at least informally. If it goes back to that..
we're gonna need bigger berms.

Last time I rode the STT, a guy passed me at the bottom and said, "I'm cheating." I looked over and he was on an ebike. I said that's not legal here and he replied, "Says who?" I said the Ranger, the National Forest and the County Parks. That didn't seem to bother him as he took off up the trail at what looked like 20mph.

As some of you may know I volunteer for Crystal Cove State Park. The head Ranger came in and said the policy is evolving but at this time in state parks pedal assist are allowed non pedal assist are not as of today that was a bit eye-opening to me.

He added the two areas that cause the greatest confusion are e-bike and service dogs (let's just say there's a lot of alleged service dogs out there)

That's a CA State Park so maybe Jerry likes ebikes? Word I've gotten from the (US) National Forest and (OC) County Parks is ebikes are not allowed on trails. (I'm going to ask if that's changed, and if not, why there's no clear signage.)

A friend simplified the issue by saying ebikes are only legally allowed on trails where Jeeps are/when they are.

To me, the idea of an E-bike is interesting..

If they could be used in certain manner, it could make shuttle runs more practical, but how to keep people honest to turn off the assist on the way down, or on uphills on the singletrack...

but this event... takes it to a whole other level...

I left comments on the article. I called them a bunch of pansies...
However in retrospect. I actually do not have an issues with them riding eBikes on a closed course resembling slightly a moto track. It sounds kinda fun.
Now hold on! Put down the torches and Pitch forks!

My concern is the potential and most likely phycology that comes with it. Like... Where do they train for such an event? On a moto track? Or more likely on the trails we ride.

Nature never fails to impress...
