I am currently in China, Hunan province, at Zhangjiajie National Park.
Got here on a bullet train going over 200km/hr
I have been reading about you guy's exploits on the 'net when I can.
Interesting that I can post text but not photos, but that may be due to our remote location and limited internet access.
The park we are visiting is well-known as the inspiration of the landscapes for the movie Avatar. 800 meter tall sandstone pillars formed by physical weathering seem to float in the sky due to the ever-present clouds and fog.
Waterfalls and caves, glass bridges and cable cars. Lots of people, from all over the world. I even met people who work for the UN at breakfast.
Tomorrow we will return for more sightseeing and picture taking. We have a local guide and the word VIP gets used when we visit. Nice to be able to get in the short line, ahead of the teeming hordes.
I will not get to ride here, and I don't think the mtb scene is large here. Later on I will be riding when I get to my bike in Lanzhou, Gansu province.
Miss riding in the San Gabes but keep posting pics and stories and turning the cranks.
Feel free to post questions as I have been speaking so much Chinese I might forget English if I don't use it!
Hope to be able to post pics when I get a better connection.
Later...
