Isn't that where all the clueless tourons go?Sounds like someone spent too much time in Cade's Cove on a one lane road

We haven't been there in about 20 years. All I remember was that there were turn-offs about every quarter mile, yet Cadillacs filled with seniors would stop dead in the middle of the road every time they would see a cow. My wife happened to be driving, and we almost had a road rage incident on several occasions One time a car stopped in the middle of the road right NEXT to a pull-off, and we beeped our horn. The glares we received were priceless.
Having grown up in dairy country, I'm going to state that people need to get out more if they have never seen a Holstein before!
This makes me think of a story I'll never forget. About 15 years ago Elk were reintroduced in Western NC, specifically in Cataloochee Valley. It's a very picturesque place even without the elk, but the elk brought elk viewers out in droves because they were protected from hunting and were easy to see. I was there with Mom and Nana to check them out when a family pulled up in a fully stock Chevy Monte Carlo that had been painted and decalled to match Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s Winston Cup car. Ricky Lee, the heavily beer-gutted patriarch of the family immediately started making his way out into the field towards a large bull that was really close to the road. Not sure if the bull was in the rut, but it took on a pretty defensive stance right away. The conversation that ensued went like this:GSMNP...home of the slow-moving deer-stalking crowds. Wow, what a place. I've actually never been on Lake Nantahala, but have rafted and fished the Nantahala River many times. Lake Junaluska/Haywood County is where I grew up, in case that rings a bell. Thanks for sharing this. Fall is always the time of year that I get the most home sick.We stayed here on Lake Nantahala. It was my parent's 60th Wedding Anniversary!
