So I went to the Doc's yesterday and was getting that "2nd opinion" on that Gout diagnosis and he confirmed it indeed was Gout... yeah...
But I brought up an issue on the same foot, but on my 5th toe... (To clarify, the nursey rhyme would designate this one as "And this little piggy went wee wee wee all the way home.")
...where I have this big bump on top of my 5th toe. Now it does not hurt unless I'm wearing my Mountain Bike Shoes...
Of "flippin" Course! After about 10 miles on the bike, that is when it can get excruciating!
He says it's called Hammer Toe.
WTF is that! He explains that it is from the tendon pulling back on the toe and it causes a rub that promotes bone growth where the riding condition is (rub of the toe on the inside of the shoe).
Doc states to fix it, it takes surgery to relax the tendon, and open up the toe and grind down the bone bump
.
I said, "Would it be easier to just cut off the toe?"
He looked up at me and said, "Are you serious?"
I said, "What would heal faster?"
He said, "Let's stick to normal procedures." With an odd look on his face...![Confused  ](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f615.png)
I said, "Whatever it takes."![Ninja :ninja: :ninja:](/forum/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/ninja.png)
So this is scheduled for October 7th and should lay me up for a week or two. So my 5th toe/baby toe/little piggy, really is going to go "wee wee wee all the way home!"
Sheesh!
Every year, it's always something! My advice? Don't grow old... ha hah!
