Giant and the new full-E+

Full-e... Starts the same as "Fullerton". It can't be a coincidence. :p

I forgot to mention that I saw two of them the other day on my local loop when I took the full suspension bike out. There's a small climb by the Tijeras Creek golf course. As I hit the top, huffing and puffing, I noticed two guys coming at me. At first I thought they were really fast... Then I noticed they were riding side by side, chatting nonchalantly, and not turning the pedals anywhere near fast enough for the speed they were carrying. I had enough room to go by, but they made no "polite" moves to give me the right of way going uphill.

The Bikes look pretty cool. They will find a place. Or we will find a place for them.

About that video though.:stop: How Bromantic they had a nice little picnic with salami and cheese on their break while they were reading the map. Like a nice couple of buddies out on the trail. I wonder which one was packing the salami and which one carried the cheese? :Roflmao Hey if that's new thing to do when you go out on the ride with your buddies. I'm packing my own salami.( I'm just saying.) And if so. I take those nice things back I said about the guys on the ride last Thursday. Because nobody brought any cheese or salami to our ride. Or maybe there was just a bunch of salami no cheese. :Roflmao

I do picnic on rides, I do bring cheese and salami on rides. We just don't have the trail side Inns they have on European trails in the Alps. Are you going to make fun of the beer too?

Naaa I didn't see a beer. I guess I missed it. Guess I was too busy looking at the cheese and the map.
Come on man don't tell me you're going to get your Manties in a wad because I made a funny.
I don't Mind picnic rides specially if I'm with a girl. But not with another guy.( That seems a little odd to me anyway.) If it were a group. No problem. But I don't want to seem like I'm on a date with another guy. and I am not homophobic. But hey if that's the way you float by all means go for it. If you like it. I love it.

Giant e-bikes will come to the US. The Levo was sold for 5 years in Europe before coming to the USA.

Just because I share my salami and cheese with men on rides does not make me a bad person. And no beer pictured in that video but I know those trail side inns sell beer.

LMAO....:Roflmao.. I don't believe anywhere did I say that made anyone a bad person. Quit trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill!!! Get over yourself dude! Like I said don't get your MANties in a wad! If you don't like it you don't read it and don't comment. And like you said. We do not have Trailside inns out here. So if I am from out here. Then yes that seems odd to me don't you think? Go pick a fight with someone else.Out of the hundreds of people whose read that post no one is said anything other than you. Go ride your bike! I won't be wasting anymore my time to reply to you!

This was at a LBS in Vegas. I can't lie. I lusted pretty hard for it. The multi-day long mile short duration adventures I could have with this! Brings a whole new definition to weekend warrior.

Is this style ebike blasphemous?

On the contrary, I do not fear for singletrack access and trail user conflicts with a functional steed like that. I doubt we would see it on many multi-use singletrack trails, and if we did, it wouldn't be used to blast people off into the weeds. E-bikes for fireroads!

In mammoth there was a guy stationed at one of the trail intersections. 4 guys pulled up and he checked all our trail passes. As the last guy started to ride off he said "hold on there.....you have an e bike! No e bikes of any kind in the bike park only." The rider thought his kind (pedal assist only) should be OK. Mammoth policy is no ebike of any kind on the mountain. FYI

I think I will write a thank you letter to Mammoth Mountain!

Pedal assist bikes in a gravity park makes no sense. Use the extra weight for 8-10 inches of travel and wide tires not a heavy CX bike. Mammoth is private property they have the right to set any rules they like.

The guy's bike looked kinda like a stumpjumper. He thought it was OK for pedal assist on the mtn, but as you say mammoth can have their own rules. He said pedal assist will only assist to 19 mph, not a throttle type system.

Specialized does make a pedal assist stump jumper called the Levo. State of CA does not lump pedal assist bike without a throttle, and power assist to stop at 20 miles per hours, into the motorized category. The law pertains to bike lanes and paths it does not pertain to hiking trails it is up to land mangers to set their own policies and those policies need to be posted.
So right now the whole situation is messy. CA likes any electronic transportation and they really have not thought things out yet.
