Gabrieleno Trail advice..

All too late as I didnt have service anyway. We stuck to what we knew. The heat was absolutely a factor as we all ran out of water. It didn’t hit me until Middle Merrill when I stopped to help a guy with a flat. The climb back up to Sunset wasn’t fun but Sunset was fantastic. I ❤️ that trail. @floyd joined us and try to stay low key on his skills but he ripped just fine.

Yea it’s all mellow XC style riding until you take your eyes off the trail or you don’t clean a seemingly easy technical section.
She was lucky Burt heard her cries for help and that she didn’t break any bones. Took a human chain of five rides to get her and her bike out.
This was one or two miles below Switzers on the new section.

Tunnel vision... Riders of the San Gabes MUST ride with tunnel vision.

While you are rolling, look only where you want the bike to go. STOP, to smell the roses if you wanna look around.

Looks like you bailed on Millard and El Prieto also? Bummer. Gotta do that shuttle in the winter time!
.

Never heard of Millard and I keep hearing about El Prieto but have no idea where it dumps out of how to get back to my car after the ride. I'm game to going you guys later in the year when the weather cools down and I'll try to keep up as you show me around. :D

You guys took the DHers easy way out. They go that way because they cant pedal up the FR to El P. Which would have been a chore for you too probably due to the heat.
Instead of going left and down Chaney/Horsey Trail at the chain link fence you go right and down Millard to the camp ground.
Then you climb to the entrance of El P., which is beautiful and green and shady. Great way to end the ride.
It takes you straight back to the car, no neighborhood to ride thru.

Next time for sure!
