I'm mostly impressed by the guy (Mr Knighten) who gave up the opportunity for a $10K Santa Cruz bike of his choice as I don't think I could have done this but kudos to everybody involved in the process. I'm so impressed I think I may have to kick down a donation to the program.

I'm sure it was altruistic, and it's great that he got 5 bikes for 5 kids, but....

I'm cynical. Most people don't realize that the winner has to pay the sales tax on these things, and on $10K that is not trivial - in Long Beach it's $1,025 - yeah, 10.25%. It's quite possible he didn't have the wherewithal to do so.

No, I'm not taking away from what he did, just sayin' maybe there was more to it.
