Camera Down.

I have destroyed 5 cameras in my lifetime of MTBing. 2 by falling in the water and 3 by crashing and getting dust in the camera so the lenses on the Canons would not open. Being disposable they are almost as expensive to fix as they are to replace. I have been 6 months without a camera using my cell phone which wearing full figure gloves and a finger print recognition is no bueno. So this time around I bought a Olympus Tough TG-4 Camera. I know that the image quality may not be as good as canon but I am tired of ruining cameras. Here is the first test on the trail up behind my house. The trails you see on the hill are Aliso Crest Trail and Valido Trails. I am standing on Aliso Crest Trail when I took the picture.

Thanks for the recommendation! Busting up a camera sucks, that's for sure. I'll put that Olympus on my list. They have always made pretty good cameras IMHO, and I really like that f2.0 lens on it.
I used to use semi-disposable Cannon P&S camera, but bit the bullet and bought a nice LX7 a couple years ago. It's held up pretty well. Lens is a little sticky opening up sometimes, so I know it will eventually fail. But a good camera, with a real wide and FAST f1.4 lens.

WOW!Sharp and clear with good color from here Amigo! Looks VERY Good!
Thanks Dean!

I had never had cameras last longer than 1.5-2 years. For me the dust kills them. Back in 2012 after doing research I settled on a Sony camera. When I finally bought it Sony had dropped the price by $75. They offered a 3 year protection package for the same $75. I normally never buy those but given my history with cameras it seemed to make sense. Three years later and aside from a couple buttons that don't always work the damn thing is still trucking along. For MTBers I think these protection packages or extended warranties are something actually worth considering.
