I'm helping a relative surprise her husband by getting his old 2006 Cannondale Prophet trail worthy. This bike will be used for fire roads, rides with young kids and some moderate trails. Not going to go tubeless so I told her she needed some real tires.

Any good online deals out there? I've seen a couple but you folks cast a wide net (;)) on the web.

I'm also going to suggest she get some Slime tubes. Before you guys beat me up for making such a suggestion please consider where he will be riding. He lives in the Phoenix area and there are more sharp things there than anywhere I've ever ridden. A bike with flats doesn't get ridden. I know the weight penalty will be severe but it will be worth it.

She will also be sending the bike in for a basic tune.

Last time the bike was ridden I was with him. I rode it a bit and it was shifting OK and the BB7s were not bad.
He didn't flat on the ride but the next time he wanted to ride both tires were flat.
TIA

merlincycles across the pond has great deals on continental x-kings ($15). I've ridden Sedona, I don't blame you on using slime tubes. I slashed my sidewalls and paid to get a maxxis aggressor put on towards end of the day. It got cut right at the bead and no way recoverable.
Thanks @Torrent77 . I'll check merlincycles.
No fun paying a premium for a tire on a road trip. I had to buy a tire in Mammoth once so I could keep on riding - Ouch, they got me :gag:
