A front tire slip, off camber straight, 12 mph...

Worst crash I had in a while, on a very easy and mellow trail that goes around the base of a small hill counter-clockwise, riding at a pace that challenges my typical avg speed. My hardtail's front tire slipped to the right, fingers weren't on the brakes, left foot comes off the pedal, but I stand straight up and lock-out my right leg and my body keeps moving forward while the front of the bike moves to the right, and I find myself just simply tipping over to the left and plop to the ground with my shoulder/upper arm taking the brunt of the force. Held on to the bike for too long I guess; I didn't even put out my foot or hand, since I didn't expect to crash from it. Laid on the ground stunned for about 3-5 seconds, thinking how I must've been afflicted by the Fully Loop syndrome or something.

heal vibes to you Trail Ninja !! *whispering* shhhh shhhh Dan... if some ask about the rash/cut be like me...ohh this? I had a little scuffle with mountain lion/Bob cat while mountain biking.. and they'll be like "Wow"

Might need to re-visit this discussion, Dan...

Heal them scratches and stop sliding on the ground!

Healing vibes, eh

My HT is my beater bike with crappy parts on it that I don't mind abusing and wearing down, so I deserved it for letting my guard down. I slid in another left hander earlier on it a full 180 in the sand with kicked up a torrent of sand and dust that looked awesome floating away. It's like skidding on cheap dept store bike tires, only sideway and without the brakes. Makes the trail a bit more challenging and fun, compared to riding it on my super capable FS bike.

You're pretty much batting a thousand if that's your worst crash in awhile. Sheesh, we look like that after a ride without crashing.

Try some sleeves, ninja. You'll protect your skin while you mitigate the farmer tan. Yea, I know...fashion reasons.

I wasn't riding in that shirt; that was after getting out the shower. It's what my arm looked like despite the sleeves. You can see the red "hot spots" along the entire arm where the skin got friction burn from the sleeves rubbing on them in the crash. 12 mph isn't that slow, enough to generate a slide on dirt with my arm acting as the skidplate. Was asked where the burn mark on my left wrist came from and now I remember... when I think about the crash, it makes me relate it to how those guys I've seen getting dragged by horses feel, after falling off but still stuck in the stirrups.

Also, seeing this pic again has recalibrated my brain to figure out how mirror selfies work with left vs right.

Maybe your reply will bring Mike back... I miss his perspective on things.

Rode w him on the SJ Loop (and Bell Ridge). He is one interesting and crazy MF - if you get a chance, ride w him!! Send him a PM through STR; he went back there just as I did when things got too heavy.

I have no idea why I empathize with that, but not with many other types of pain. Maybe because it's not the pain that I empathize with, but the misery. That sucks.
