This Craig is interested, but is spending all his weekend wife points on the Nondot Caspers race the day prior.

Thanks for posting up a ride! Looks like you've got a good crew forming.

Is Insidious the same trail as Slaughterhouse? That's what I got when I tried looking it up. What kind of saddle time and distance are you guys planning on doing?

Hey guys, this is an awesome place to ride, in fact was there the last 2 weekends. FYI, it has been suggested to park at Keller Rd and Mapleton Rd (See pic). Although this is where i park, i was reminded both times by locals to make sure NOT to park Scenic View Dr. Something to do with not drawing attention to the area by the land owners and helping to keep the trails open. Wish I could make it but celebrating my son's birthday Sunday morning. Make sure to pad up and don't miss it, the trails are sooooo much fun. Please don't kill the messenger :)

Have fun!

No public Strava or GoPro either either, I suppose? What draws the bad attention are the injuries/mishaps, esp if it requires emergency service, and also if it reaches the media and people start commenting and questioning things in response.

A couple of reasons for not parking on Scenic Dr.: At busy times there were 20-30 cars parked there potentially drawing unwanted attention. And cars were getting broken into since it's an isolated road.

There are definitely Strava segments everywhere out there. It's an underground trail system, but not that underground. ;-)

The area is slated for development sooner rather than later. We're enjoying it while we can. We know at any time it could be gone.

Well it happened.....

Eight hardcore, badass, goat climbing, gnar riding, handsome group of guys (me included :whistling:) rode these trails today: mtbbiker (Craig), abuck55 (Mark), redwoods (Pat), TomtheBomb (Tom), Luis (Luis), his friend Jose, doublewide (Shitty) and ridinrox (me).

Luis and Jose showed up just after 8:00. I forgot my shoes so had to head back home. That gave the guys a chance to get acquainted since I've ridden w all of them.

By 8:45 we were riding to the trailhead. Luis and Jose are unbelievable climbers!! But that's so last year...:Roflmao Haha (I kid)

I don't know where to begin. Their grins spoke a thousand words. They were blown away by the kind of trails that exist here - I give credit to the amazing pro DHers that live in this area.

We had one, off the trail, right after a g-out, crash; poor Jose wore his pads on the wrong side of his leg. He received a pretty good size hematoma on his calf.

We had lunch and beers at a Mexi place which really hit the spot afterwards where we told stories of our wildlife encounters - pretty funny :poop:.

The boys took some pics and hopefully they'll pipe in too.

Wow! That was a whose/whose of mountain bikers! I wish I was in better shape as I really would have liked to come down for this. Once a week rides is not going to be enough to hang with that group.

Jose is a crack up, huh?

Some how gots to get some riding in during the week. Can't miss many more of these!!!
I gotta have some pics!

Yes Rox it happened, post a ride and peeps come over to ride!

Last night just after I PM'd Rox that it wasn't looking good for me to ride, my friend Jose texted me asking if I was still going to ride. I convinced him to come with me, and I'm glad he did, since my truck had been commandeered by my wife and I didn't think a XL Enduro would fit in the back of a sport coupe.
So Jose showed up at my house at 6am and off we went... but first, off to starbucks for some food and coffee. Nice sausage, egg, cheese biscuit gut bomb sandwich to eat on the way. Good thing the drive over was just under two hours, gut bomb diffused by the time we got there. As we pulled up to the designated parking area there was a long row of cars already parked there, I spot Rox and we go park and get ready.
We roll up to the group and make our intros. I got to meet Tom finally and it turned out that Mark recognized my friend Jose from riding the San Gabes (on Lower Sam Merrill no less). So you get a bunch of excited mountain bikers together and conversations start flowing and going off different tangents... aren't we a social bunch ;) I finally look up and notice that Rox is missing. Turns out she forgot her ballerina shoes :Roflmao

Anyway, Mikie requested pictures:

The weather was absolutely perfect. Cloud cover with a cool breeze. It threatened to rain but we just got a faint drizzle in the beginning.

Craig showing off his perfected flat repair technique. Can you guys believe he was going to take the walk of shame rather than put a second tube in???
Luckily he gave in after we all started chanting TUBE, TUBE, TUBE
Thanks go to Rox for organizing, and to Craig for leading and to everyone for the great company. It was definitely worth the drive
