A mini Ride Report.
Cathy and i did not go to Utah to ride bikes.
We went there looking for a place to retire (and maybe start our own business).
But we did take 4th of July off to go up to Eagle Point to check out what trails are there.
Eagle Point is in it's infancy of developing trails. Eagle Point ranges around the 10,000 foot elevation. Most of the trails are on MTB Project.
Because Cathy has been off her bike for quite a while we chose to ride Monarch Loop Trail. Now it is only 3.1 miles. Hardly anything to get excited about for the Distance and elevation hammerheads that reside here on imtbtrails. None the less it was a day to have fun.
First off the roads off highway 153 are poorly marked at best. In fact, the road we are supposed to turn off of is supposed to be named Elk Meadow Road... It's not. So we passed it, twice. But then got smart and pulled up the MTB Project App on Cathy's phone and it beaconed us right to the trailhead.
There was no one in the parking lot accept some folks doing some site clean up. With the MTB Project App (from now on called just, "the app") we easily found the trail and when we were not sure the app got us home.
The Trail
The trail is actually awesome. Tons of well made bermed switchbacks. You can tell the trail was designed by mountain bikers. We zigged and zagged our way up to the top, and then zig zagged our way to the bottom with a couple of descent speed straight-aways.. Weaving through pines and aspens this is a pretty trail. as most criticisms we have read, it's too short and a tease. But at 10,000 plus the little climbing we did got our attention.
Looped back to the parking lot and ran into the onsite bike tech who came out to greet us.
Scooby dooby doo!
