2025 NEW YEAR IMTB MEET UP GROUP RIDE AND BBQ.

8:30A.M. plan to ride at 9.
Vail Lake
Park inside the park at the MTB parking area not by the guard gate.
This is a KOA facility that offers really nice camping as well. So those coming from Canada could make a weekend out of it as well.
There is a fee to get in $15.00 pp. But they have nice restrooms good parking and you can use the pool if you like.
There is a good mix of options here for all skill levels. We will have a ride for everyone . Techy stuff and buff stuff. Good climbing and long descending.
Bring what ever bike you prefer.
Ride distance from 5-20 miles.
We will plan for a BBQ and fixins after as there is plenty of area for it, approximately 12:30. Bring a chair.
I will bring a portable BBQ and banquet table, if anyone else can please do.
Bring your food of choice for the grill and a side to share . Potluck style.

It's been a long time since we have been together and would be great to see you all and meet the new riders to the site.

Good idea! Put me down for a definite maybe. Water Polo schedule might interfere. I'll know more as we get closer.

I've never ridden out there, so someone with incredible patience for a slow climber can show me around OR I can just explore on my own.

Can you post a meet-up location for us lazy people?

People ride with people they like to ride with. Nothing wrong with that. When you are spending the time and money for an excursion or doing shuttles (self or commercial) you want to have a little control over which knuckleheads show up and how they affect your ride.

That's why I am rarely invited to the off-forum rides! And I accept that. :thumbsup:

That said, I will do what I can to make this one.

8:02 up Cholla today. I almost came to a stop like 4 times. Yet this was apparently my fastest time up in 3 years (of course, I almost never ride it anymore). You may recall a thread in STR to post your sub 4 min Cholla times! :rolleyes:

20:59 up Mathis today. Basically a moving track stand.

Oh - and as for the "been a while since I've been on a group ride" my last one was Wrightwood, Memorial Day 2023. I carried the red lantern.

That said, I would rather be in the back alone than have anyone ruin their rides by hanging back to "encourage" me. I still enjoy the camaraderie on the re-groups and the after party. :thumbsup: :cool:
