I do this as well...I drink a water with a pack of of LMNT about 30 minutes before I ride
I bought some sugar free LiquidIV today at Costco, so will try that this weekend to see how I like it.
The issue I have with LMNT is the 1000mg of sodium. That much is not good for my heart.I add just a little LMNT to my bottle for all rides in warm weather. cause it's easy and can't hurt. But the guys doing longer rides than I would know more. Maybe herz...
LiquidIV does have a bit of cane sugar in it, but I also carry bubblegum on my rides if I need a sugar blast....I drink a water with a pack of of LMNT about 30 minutes before I ride, and I also add 1-2 packs of LMNT to my Camelbak and drink that during my ride, and then I drink at least one more water with LMNT after my ride, sometimes two.
I sweat like a bastard, so I take no chances.

One thing about LMNT is it's too sweet tasting but seems to do the job. I'd much prefer a less sweet version. The issue I have with LMNT is the 1000mg of sodium. That much is not good for my heart.
It's not supposed to be used everyday as I understand.
My youngest takes this for her POTS and it works for her.
Subtle, yet Herzie.I add just a little LMNT to my bottle for all rides in warm weather. cause it's easy and can't hurt. But the guys doing longer rides than I would know more. Maybe herz...
Good stuff! Sometimes before or after rides, usually only with longer rides. (Never got on the tailwins bandwagon, but won't go there )LiquidIV

Your bikeride yesterday was badass. Chunky heat!I'm a Tailwinds user. I like the calories, and a little caffeine, to go along with the electrolytes. I only use it on rides over 10ish miles, and usually more like 15+ unless it's quite hot. Amount varies per ride. For rides like the one I did yesterday (20 hard miles with trail temps over 100 for the last hour) I'll pound a Liquid IV or Bubs Hydrate or Die when I get home as well. I'm kind of partial to the latter lately. Haven't experimented with preloading electrolytes. Perhaps I should.
It's such a good route. I'd probably call it my fave, even though Suicide still gives me butterflies. Maybe that's part of the appeal.Your bikeride yesterday was badass. Chunky heat!
Still never ridden it. That's a crime. It's such a good route. I'd probably call it my fave, even though Suicide still gives me butterflies. Maybe that's part of the appeal.
Indeed it is. It's a great Fall ride. We should try to connect the dots.Still never ridden it. That's a crime.
Never thought of that option.First of all, I like my fluids to taste like water, not flavored water, so I don't add supplements to my bottles or bladder. I swallow electrolyte capsules as the ride progresses. In the heat of the Summer, I take one before I ride. From there, depending on how warm it's getting, I will take a capsule every 30 or 60 mins for the duration of the ride.
You do not want to Fall on that ridgeline trail, that would be suicideIndeed it is. It's a great Fall ride. We should try to connect the dots.
Coconut water is getting to be too expensive so I buy a whole bunch at Sprouts when they sell it at 1/2 price every 2 months or so.I use them on every ride . I almost always ride 12mi. or more. You sweat even when you don't sweat. I use flavorless electrolyte drops in my camel back. If I am climbing over 800 ft I mix 50-50 coconut water and water. Gives me calories, energy and electrolytes. It works amazingly well. If you have an issue with sodium use Nattokinase capsules. Its natural from derived from soybeans. It provides a kick of oxygen uptake. Fights cramping too. Good stuff for the heart. I always carry them in my bag along with Medi lyte electrolyte capsule that include magnesium . Cheap and work great.
