Newbie with Hope!
Hallo,

I was active on STR for years and used to ride regularly. I think the last time I hit the trails was when I was still working at Jenson USA, so yeah, it's been quite a while. Life threw me some curveballs; I went through some tough times, nearly lost everything, and battled with depression (mostly on the other side of it now). My bikes have been collecting dust ever since. At this point, they’re probably considered "classics." I can’t afford anything new, so Ill be riding these until they give out or I do.

Had to sell my road bike to cover some bills during the rough patch, but I still have a fixed-gear I used mostly for commuting, a Trek 8500 hardtail, and an old Giant Reign that’s seen better days.

James ;)

Howdy James! Welcome back to the fold!

Sorry to hear of your struggles, but glad to hear they are mostly in the rear view mirror. Your Reign can reign for a little while longer as you get your MtB legs back under you.

Ride a lot - write a lot!

Welcome back into the fold Dr. James!
Bikes and imtbtrails makes all our problems float away...
Well, unless you OTB or get T-Boned by a Forum Nazi! :whistling:

But seriously, sorry to hear about some troubles. I pray they get more and more in the rear view and light and sunshine is ahead.
Get out on a group ride and suck in that fresh air!

Welcome!
Mikie

Welcome dr. My new bike is old, my old bike is 17 years old. My Franken bike is very old. (the franken bike has parts from other bikes, a hard tail but has a rack and I use it for trips to the store). So old bike are good, lube the chain and the cables. Lube anything else that squeaks. You will be fine.
I am glad that you are on the other side and can see light at the end of the tunnel.
Happy trails on old bikes that can roll
