I Rode My Bike Today...

Yeah, yeah, yeah… When I see one of you guys ride the whole feature, and not just the first half, I’ll ride the first half. :Roflmao :p
I had no idea there's more to it. Like you said above, the exit is the hardest part of the "first half." I would like the paragons of Chilao to show me the rest if it....preferably while riding so I know the appropriate line and speed, and without dismounting to scope it because seeing it first would probably give me the heebiegeebies.

I rode my bike today... And it wasn't pretty. No sleep last night, but I had some time late morning. So I headed over to Brown, with the intention of doing the standard Brown + El Prieto. It was a lot hotter in the exposed sections than it was when I left the house. I baked. :gag: I seriously thought about hanging a right on Fern, but the second half of the climb is easier than the first part, so I kept going to the Ken Burton saddle.

Coming down my neck was killing me, so I passed right by the El Prieto trailhead and kept going. Onto the trail near the Brown gravesite, and pavement the rest of the way...

Bikes are still fun... even when the motor is acting up. :D

The COVID 21 high school season is weird to say the least. It's winding down, and today was the last day of practice at Oakmont Park/Herngt 'Aki' Preserve. I've basically spent every Thor's Day there for the last four months (Or last eight years, depending on hour you count). Hopefully Middle Child will stick with it for her senior year which should be a bit more normal.

For the first time in a long time Suz and I headed out to Blackstar for a Thursday night ride.

well she has been fighting the same funk I had last week.

pace wasn’t fast...but that wasn’t what it was about.

I knew we’d make as far as we’d make it. We got to the top of Hidden Ranch and she said all she had in her was the 2nd Mariposa sign. So that’s as far as we went...and I was ok with it.

I didn’t feel great, but was glad to get out.

I love when I am scrolling through a thread and see a photo and think "that looks like Blackstar" before I read the description :) Some great memories on that trail!

Rode yesterday, 27 miles, just under 3000 feet. Cool and very gusty. Blue skies... and then dark threatening clouds... and then blue skies again. Very strange. Was feeling strangely tired, and wasn't really feeling the ride, though I wasn't particularly slow.

Rode with Nuclear Steve about half of the distance. Our other buddy Bob is down "baking his buns" in Florida.

With my bike in the shop, I demo'd the Pivot Switchblade. Aliso yesterday; Ladera this morning. It climbs incredibly well for having so much travel. Easiest I have cleared Cholla (still sucked). I give my Hightower LT a slight edge on the descents. Your mileage and experience may vary. FYI, Pro Bike Supply has the Switchblade and the new 429 enduro to demo (size L). Good shop.

Hit Twin Buttes in Durango this morning. Fun riding, twisty single tracks climbing up to the base of this bad boy.

The view to the east of Cliffrock Loop, rad trail going down the spine!

I think this little feature was in either upper or lower Ed & Flow, not to be confused with Flo and Eddie or Ebb and Flow.

The 2 trails are such a great payoff for the climb. Perfect morning.

Strawberry peak... In good shape.. bit sandy.. what a great trail... Single track climbs and downs..exposure galore.. views too.. one fast flowy long downhill Redbox Gabrielleno... Not too crazy..just wilderness riding at its best... Cross country...
I love it!!!
Steve rides this at night?? Crazy....

In honor of my friend Todd who busted his scapula last Saturday on Lizard, I decided to sample the dirt there myself. Slammed through a g-out like I always do, but the unweighting on the other side helped my lose traction. No biggie. I continued on to bag BVD and T and A.

Yeah it is already that slick dust over hard pack I got loose a bit today in LCWP too glad yer OK.

Other thing the the braking bumps in LCWP and Aliso are already bad.

I am not one to blame everything on eBikes and the inside crowd but in this case... Maybe....but dang on the HT I am getting worked.. I am sure that extra 15lbs I am carrying has nothing to with it.

It is about this time each year I PSA myself to watch out as the corners are getting blown or / slick... Can't push in the corners like in March...

But I had a good ride, helped a dude dude with a tire issue.

I didn't really notice anything being a dustier or brake-bumpier today than the last few times I rode. I guess a few of the turns on upper Lizard and upper T and A are getting some deeper holes. That's one thing my Rail doesn't seem to mind. But a hardtail? Yeah. I'd probably notice a lot more.
