I Rode My Bike Today...

Ride lower chiquito today. Rained the whole time, which was fun, actually. Ran into a few hikers, usually there’s zero on a rainy Wednesday. At the creek crossing on way back I crossed paths with a guy hiking up with tools who asked me if I like the rock work he did on the trail, then noticed his warriors society hat. I thanked him profusely! Was nice to get away from all the panic.

No rain!!!! I’ve been hiking every day waiting for this day!
Hit GE to see how much snow was up there, pretty good amount starting half way up the ST climb from the car. It was truly stunning up there, the snow and mud made for a grueling climb, but man was it worth it!
Also a different “wild” herd of horses were up the mtn behind Sandburg, a mama had just had a foal...amazing!
Oof, I really needed that ride:inlove::rolleyes:

Beautiful photos!!! Love seeing snow this time of year. Such a pretty contrast to the springtime green!

Nice!

Tuesday Ride: Maple Springs to Santiago Peak 24/4,050

Gate Locked. On the paved section the water crossings were 9 inches deep. At that time it was 52 degrees in the shade and 72 degrees when the sun came out from behind the clouds. The dirt was in nice condition all the way up to the peak, making for easier pedaling. No mud and no problems with puddles although there was a bunch of big ones along the saddle. At 4 Corners it was 37 degrees and I put on some more insulation. When I got to the peak it was 27 degrees but nothing was frozen. For the ride down I added a down jacket under the gore-tex hard shell I was wearing and put on by best gloves. That certainly helped when I was riding through black clouds and my garmin was frosting over. Had a great time. Highly recommended therapy for whatever ails ya. :)

What the hell, decided to try riding up Motorway. It was brutal but I got around 2.5 miles up before the ominous clouds started to gather(my legs were pretty shot too). TBH, it was mostly stopping to enjoy the scenery with a little biking thrown in:whistling: . Rain was coming down hard by the time I got to the bottom. Didn’t see another biker until I got back to the car. He was about to head up motorway despite the rain. I love the Santa Anas!

Yay. I rode my bike this afternoon before martial law was declared. Pretty sloppy out there, but fun to get out nonetheless. I have ridden in the mud more in the 6 weeks that I've owned the Megatower than I did on my last two bikes combined. I've had more rides in mud than not on this bike. Cause and effect? I think so.

This may be the first time I can recall riding uphill wearing a jacket too, albeit a light one.

Gratuitous bike pic:

Points to anyone who can tell me precisely where this photo was taken.

7.6 miles. 1000' and 20 minutes of bike cleaning.

Bikes are fun.

If you are implying that I was foolish for trying to ride up Motorway, yes, I felt like an inept fool for large stretch of that climb.

I’m looking forward to exploring the other end of the Santa Anas for sure.

meanwhile, I figure I’d go for a run on the STT. few small puddles but in decent shape. I saw a few fresh tire tracks but no biker or hiker. Don’t know what the Luge is like, didn’t make it that far.

I did a roll through Cherry Canyon this afternoon. Just trying to make sure that my legs remember how to turn the cranks in this time of great distress.

The area was loaded with users. There was hero dirt, colleges hotties, more hero dirt, more college hotties,... It must be Spring Break because I saw a few wearing their school initialed pull overs.

9.98 miles
