The Bomb Squad PCE AGAIN!

What? It's the end of May! Weather is supposed to be frigging hot already. @Tom the Bomb , @scan , Reck-it-Ron, Vince the Trail Slayer and I would take advantage of the cooler desert temps one more time for a romp through the PCE. The five of us rolled out at 9am from the top quickly. Vince jumping the gaps! We plowed through to the ups and downs where Vince would have his first PCE crash. No biggie, just a washout. We carried on working our way to the bottom. Seemed to go by quick. Trail in good shape but might have been just a little sandier than two weeks ago. Weather still generally cool. Didn't drop my chain this time on the DH chunkyness this time. Everyone ripped through in one piece. The sand wash was, yup, sandy as usual. The sun was out but didn't feel like it was beating down. A quick break at the oasis the up and flying down Hahns. Holy smokes that's a sweet DH trail. What a blast and hitting it fast! At the bottom, it was so sandy the bikes stood up by themselves.. Over to Cindy Whitehead for the exit. New dirt for all but Tom. More of that goodness... Vince would lay the bike down again on a tight techy steep switchback. It happens. All smiles though. Only saw one other biker the whole day, and it wasn't an E-thing. Weather held out nicely. Could we possibly get another chance to ride PCE before summer. With this screwy weather, who knows? Lunch at the local Rubio's hit the spot. Traffic on the 10 sucked.

Check the weather, high of 81 but not till 3 PM. Slight breeze up top. Clear skies. Light rain the night before up top. 4 Bombers Scan, Rocket Ron, Grego and the Trail Slayer up to the challenge. Shuttle driver confirmed. Leeeeets gooooooo!

Arrived at Carls Jr at 7:45. Bill the driver pulls in 5 min. later and we are off! 30 Min. later we are at Pine view ready to Haaaaaul Theeeeeee Maaaaail! Rain the night before made for sand paper conditions, melache’ baby!

We could do no wrong. Roosting the burms, popping the jumps and the drops it was goooooood! Temps were in the 50s up top with sun making it feel nice and brisk. We challenged each other on the techy punchy climbs and worked all the techy chunk with high fives and smiles for miles! Before we knew it we are stripping down for the Sand wash climb to the Dozer. It was not as bad as a couple weeks ago but It still sucked as you can tell from one of the picks. The Trail Slayer and Scan cruised right through pulling the rest of us along. Fran did stall and sink once, let out a holler then pushed on. Glad its only 3 miles and change. Fueled up we spin up to the Hans sign, click a couple pics, pad up and Gaaaaaame on! Conditions were, well looooose, dry and rocks everywhere, baby head size, just the way you want it. No blinking on this trail or you are clawing back up the side of the mountain to the trail and picking cactus needles from your body. We rocked it. Vince had a couple oh chit washout moments but salvaged it and we buzzed into the canyon. Such a blast!

Climbing out the steep techy hill from the end of Hans Fran tips over in the corner luckily where there is no cacti. We climb out to Dunn and cross over to Cindy’s. More chunky Monkey to come with some death defying switch backs to add to the pucker . We successfully maneuver the gnar and roll into the local housing track . A few turns later we are back at Carls and all it good with the world!

Great riding guys! Kudos to Scan you rocked it baby! The rest of us had one of those star aligned days. Strong and fast. Can’t believe we got this in at the end of May!

So far we have got Greg and Vince out to PCE 3 times with different exits each time . One more to go Grego. He is hoping for 1 more storm to roll in so we can hit the goat trails and Superman bail out! Could it happen? We shall see. Ron’s second full ride in the books with no flats or mechs. He is hooked !

Thanks guys what a day, Saaaaweeeet!

Pray for rain!

Was originally planning to go up to Wrightwood but when the forecast went bad started to look at options. Sunday night heard Tom the bomb was thinking of Palm Canyon so texted him and made it happen. Great weather no Mechanicals, the only thing that sucked was the wash.
If you know TTB this pic describes him. The matching ensemble and the STOKE is obvious !!
