I Rode My Bike Today...

Thursday Afternoon Blackstar Social.....well there was only myself and Jeremy. We decided to head out to Sierra Peak.

It was hot when we started @4:30.....and stayed that way til we climbed out of Hidden Ranch. From there my legs turned to jelly.

The wind picked up out on Sierra Ridge. Decided at the helicopter pad that I was ok taking my 90% and heading back.

Lots of riders heading up and we descended.

Just before we dropped into the canyon an OC Sheriff and a tow truck we’re heading up. Don’t know where they were going....we saw nothing all the way out to Sierra Peak.

Fun times anyway.

Mortal Masher/Spinner!?! :stop:
On a 'social' ride with the guy who won't do social media! (Hey Jeremy!)

At 4:30 p.m./ not a.m.-- can we please go to military time? :bang::bang::bang:

My head is spinning!?! ;):thumbsup::whistling:

The weezul and I teamed up with @kingaucho for the popular Hole in the Ground trail.

Good call! It's a high quality XC route through the dramatic alpine environs of Donner Pass. The 12-mile trail is consistently rife with technical difficulties up and down – maintaining focus becomes a bit of a crux. Several miles of paved and dirt road riding to complete the loop. I shuttled weeze up a ways; hey, chivalry, baby. Met kingaucho down the road and off we went.

A tough but rewarding outing in a sublime mountain area. Put it on your list if you like rocks

Decided to take a different bike out today, went to one of my favorites. Gathered everything up, loaded the bike on the rack, headed out. Got there, got ready, realized my Garmin was still resting comfortably on top of the confuser. :bang: Oh well, I have the Strava app on the phone.

There's dirt at the top that I swerved into so I'm posting here. Both sides of GMR, it was kinda warm coming back up the back side but I set all new PRs. Gotta like that. I did not attempt to ride to the Bridge to Nowhere. :Roflmao

It was 71F when I left at seven-something this morning, and 91F when I finished up, three hours later. In between as a really fun time. Linked up some dirt to stay off the roads, a little twisty-turny bit of singletrack. TONS of trail users @ Hulda Crooks this morning, even with the heat.

Since I mistakenly posted this in the "road" today thread:oops: here's yesterday's RR which now includes video. :whistling:

The skimmers seem to be multiplying on rides as of late which is rad. @sir crashalot and I usually ride mondays and fridays after work. This time Brandon, Tim and Jake wanted to hit Tna. Brandon, Tim and Gary had ridden the trail before but it was my first time so I was a little nervous...:p Brandon was damn close to a full pull as were Tim and Jake. We did have a scary moment when Jake went OTB on the last roller. He came out unscathed probably due to his falling prowess from his action sports background. I got my first full pull since coming back from injury which I'm rather stoked about. Gary shredded the gnar as to be expected. That new fox 36 seems dialed now and is like butta.:) The vibe was awesome with lots of laughs and giving each other crap. As most of you know when your buddies get into riding their stoke in contagious. A great way to end the work week to say the least.

I had some of those life things to take care of this morning, so the ride window opened up at 11:00 AM. It was only 90 in Rancho, so I figured it was a good time for a quick out and back on the Bell Trail. That ridge is always a good 10 degrees warmer, so I figured it would be a good time to renew my membership in the 100 degree club.

No eBikes. :stop:

Dude..elevation, fist bump!

Escaped the heat and spent 4 days in Big Bear. Rode both sides of Skyline, Plantation, Trick or Treat, Pine Knot, Cabin 89. Today, we rode Hannas Flats to Grays Peak. Great rides in much cooler weather. The Tour of Big Bear was going on, so it was great to hang out in town and check out the beer garden and Expo.

Been a while, Sylvia. Thanks for posting. Great pics and sounds like a fun trip.

Finally got a chance to ride my bike (even though I shouldn’t be ). I took a pic of the thermometer on my back patio (which read 109*) and off I went..

It was really nice up at Marshall Canyon. I saw no one on bikes (that’s a first) and just a few hikers. It was fun but loose :p up until I broke another spoke .

Anyways, I made it out to ride another day..

Is that last pic from Gray's Peak?

76F when I started, I guess this is why I only come out at night. I did drink all my agua tonight, that is because everytime I have to dismount I take a swig and I did dismount a bit on a rugged hill climb. It was pretty humid out there so the agua did not help, but rules are rules.
Normally I ride in the twilight April to October but not this year.
I do get out early sometimes and do not even need to turn on the lights, but not in the last few weeks.
Happy dark trails

Says the guy who wears cut off jean shorts while riding. :gag: I would question your own decisions before mocking others vernacular pal. :p :whistling::sneaky: Good zing regardless Mike!
To think I could wear some brightly colored cool guy brand and use speak that nobody understands. Then dismount the hard parts, ouch, babe. :D

And still nobody knows what a full pull is... :geek:
