I Rode My Bike Today...

I originally wanted to drive up to Big Bear with the teenager, camp and ride Skyline. But just not motivated to pull that off yesterday. Compromise was heading up to Loch Leven today. We got going too late, and it was already hot, so the compromise to the compromise was Seven Oaks and doing Glass Rd to MCR on the SART. Good choice! Perfect 81F temps the entire time. Cloud cover most of the way. A little drizzle and thunder/lighting. We parked at the Santa Ana bridge, and climbed up Seven Oaks Rd to Glass. A real nice time, stopping at the bridges, hopping in the creek, checking out the old cabins. Got to the SART, and the boy took off. He was in good form. Me, I just cruised it, not generating a full head of steam for the ride. It was great though. Finished up with more time in the creek, and a 45 min drive back home.

That's was our plan too! Would've been funny to have you roll up and we be all set up in your secret spot! :Roflmao But life gets in the way, open houses, selling cars and chores. We did enjoy a nice climb up The Exploration trail to the top, had a short break then as @Tom the Bomb would say, "Haul some mail!" Good times on a fun trail! Although the bugs were bugging big time on the climb.

What!?!? Gross:sick:

Yep. Gross.

I was thinking about a late afternoon run out to the luge from home... That's around 17 miles and 2200 feet if I do the vanilla version through O'Neill. Luckily, I got a text and a better offer- @mtnbikej . Cool ocean breezes! Ridge Park here I come! :D

Lizard, Missing Link, Fenceline, Emerald, Mach 1, and a few climbs thrown in here and there... We baked in the lower canyons, and enjoyed the cooler breezes up higher. Very nice...

14 miles and 2400 feet...

It's unfortunate, but that's what happens when people get their cars stuck on a single track and then don't get them out quick. It pisses off the legal users and the vandalism slowly escalates. Not entirely the driver's fault, since the signs get torn down, the gates get forced open and there aren't many legal options. Enforcement is weak as well.

If you look at @Faust29's 2nd picture, you'll see a big hole 'somebody' dug to keep them from driving to the Luge. Most people turn around, but the jeep in the gully got stuck in the trap, and the Mercedes managed to get around it but couldn't get out. Eventually his vehicle got pushed off the trail and ended up on top of the jeep. Then the Mercedes driver got to pay to have them both airlifted out. By that time, the jeep had been fully stripped.

Not today but yesterday. Rode at Sycamore/Mugu State Park with my son. First time since after the fire in 2013. I need to get back there more often. About 15 mi. and 2,200 ft.
I don't think I will ever be able to clean Hell Hill in this life time. Nice temps but the humidity was off the charts. Too much for this desert boy. You beach boys :) can keep that stuff.
All in all a great way to spend a few hours riding with my son in a place very different than my usual. Had to rush a bit to meet up with the rest of the family in Ventura.
This would be a great spot for an imtbtrails group ride. Early spring when it is green is best but winter is good too.

good night, some people are like animals!

I just had time for a quick loop through Whiting before dark. Rolled from home at 7:00, down through the fun stuff and then back up Borrego, CP and Mustard. Oh Boy! Then just for kicks--up Santiago Ranch and down Vulture View. Didn't see any vultures, but there were a hell of a lot of rabbits. At least I think they were rabbits.. Maybe they're little spy robots monitoring e-bike activity in the park. Oh that's right, nobody seems to care. Anyway, went as fast as I could in my current condition--sort of like a 6 million dollar man slow motion time trial. o_O

Who's over there in my secret stash!!!

I wanted to sleep in, then it was just too warm to ride.....so I waited til the afternoon. Headed down to the coast hoping for cooler temps.

From Ridge Park, Lizard, Upper Laurel, Old Emerald, Emerald Canyon, Fence Line, Deer Canyon, Ticketron, Mach 1, Slow N Easy, Fence Line, Ridge Park.

Sad to Lizard blownout so wide. Dropped my bottle 2x going down Old Emerald.

Up on the ridges the breeze was blowing and it was nice...::down in the canyons was pretty miserable. Only saw a couple other people out there.

Still a fun ride.

Agree! Lizard was my favorite trail out there, but not so much in its current supersized form.

^^^^^This

Instead of learning to ride something, they just keep going around it until it’s a 4 lane highway.

It’s still fun, I still ride the original line....but it is disappointing.

Such a shame! Too bad we can't line all the trails w/ tape like they do in the races. But, make them electrified, a little shock never hurt anyone. It'll surely keep the trails from becoming thoroughfares.

****ATTENTION: @Grego ****
The picture slot machines revealed the below pic in a ride report.
@bvader called you out on a iBLAA violation as noted below. Like a bench warrant, this is ONLY goin to cost you more and more and more with possible jail time.
Infraction is located HERE for reference, and my original noted violation notification HERE.
Below is a copy the previous original violation post.
Please comply Sir...

@Grego Excuse me it may be a violation of forum rules to post a pic of a burger like that and not specify the establishment. Please comply.

I agree with @bvader ...
If it's not a violation to the imtbtrails Burger Location Admission Act (iBLAA) of 2013, then it should be. Only way to rectify this now is to NOT subject us to a FLOOP ride but take us to this burger joint after "a" ride somewhere else...

I've ridden from the tree farm ( Blackstar ) to the Dopplar 3 times recently. July 17, 20 and yesterday. July 17 I rode mid-morning and became overheated. In the last 2-3 miles I was rested in shade where ever I could find it. July 20 I rode it at 6:00 am. Felt great! I did a good job of climbing. This past Wednesday I got sick and lumped through the rest of the work week. I rode it again yesterday but was still not 100%. But that's ok.

Been planning a Snow Summit trip for a while, always something in the way. Plan was to self shuttle, no lift, see how many laps I could do. I got a slightly late start, but went anyway. Half way there I remembered this was a race weekend, but decided to go anyway.

Pedaled up the single track (I can't remember trail names, Pinecone to Skyline?) on the first lap, took forever but was fun, then went down Miracle Mile for the first time.

Took the fire road the second time lap and followed the signs for the enduro down Westridge I think.

Pedaled up to the top on Pirates?, Which was really hard. And at the top I decided screw it, I'm going to do the entire Enduro course today, but on one day and NOT use a lift (race was scheduled for two days, lift access three runs). So I went down Turtle for Stage 3.

Pedaled up the fire road for stage 4 which was the lower part of Skyline, then fireroad back to the top to Pirates down to the bottom (Pinecone? Bristlecone?).

Ended up with 40 miles and 5000'. 5 large ice teas, two cheeseburgers, and the remainder of the pancakes and eggs from breakfast. Lots of fun too.
