August 10th 2019 Big Bear Skyline Club Ride

Okay Hooligans!
I have plotted the route for the August 10th 2019 imtbtrails Big Bear Social Ride. I put a lot of thought into this. I really want everyone to show up and feel comfortable on the ride.
So here it is:
Approximately 14 miles (13.7 Estimate)
Elevation Gain is 1500 feet
Description: Starting from the Snow Summit Parking Lot we travel counter clockwise (opposite of last time) out Town Trail to Fire Road 2n08. We climb 2n08 to Skyline Drive. There we jump on Skyline (Trail) heading East. We do about 5 1/2 miles of Skyline Trail and make a left onto Pirates. Drop Pirates to Fall Line, drop Fall Line to Fern Trail and return on Fern Trail back to the Snow Summit Parking Lot to refreshments and grills!
I have attached a .tcx file to this post you can download to a Garmin.

I think this will give us a little bit of everything. Flowy singletrack, some climbing, epic singletrack with some sweet features, and some nice bombing singletrack to finish on.

When you first pull into the Snow Summit Parking Lot, immediately make a right turn and go until you see the brown residential fence on the right. I'm bringing a 10x10 and a 10x15 popup tent.
Bring your own food, beverages and chairs. Bring whatever you want to share.

Meet time is 9:30 goal is to roll at 10:00am.

I'm down for the route.....

I prefer the other direction. I think the DH on route as you have it is pretty short. From Radford Grade to the bottom of Fern will be under 10 mins. Whereas the other direction, we have a number of DH's that will add up to more time. Your route profile shows that counterclockwise trends uphill to almost the end. This also doesn't make it easy to add on any extra credit in the event the group wants to do more. Going Clockwise would have options for extra credit.

For you northerners....is that long drive worth only 14 miles?

At the end of the day, I'm good with whatever the collective decides.

Yeah, I think you're right, clockwise for more DH. Suffer more at the beginning then let 'er rip!
The ride is the attraction, but hangin' with everyone is what it's really about.

I wanted to catch the GE ride. it is just 1 1/2 hour north. This one is way east almost to BFE. But it sounds like fun, and all work with no play has made me a dull boy. I believe the distance is great and that if we leave where we park the total gain will = the total fall. Thus I am OK West to east, or East to West.
happy wooded trails in the big mountains.

Having never ridden up there I'll defer to others for input on route direction, etc. Re: mileage, as one of the less experienced riders I'd be game to add on a bit. If the m.o. is like the Golden Eagle ride the pace and breaks made for a mellow feel, and 20ish miles shouldn't scare anyone off. Selfishly, I'd like to see as much of the trail as possible.
